Utah was the place

Once upon a time, there was a magical land called Utah, flowing with Jello, fry sauce and family fun.

On Saturday, David and I made our way to the place that Brigham Young called “the right place.”

Utah is the place that David called home for many years of his life. It is also where we found almost all his extended family and two brothers who he hasn’t seen in about a year.

That morning with one gas up and a quick prayer, we took off into the crappy weather. We were hoping enjoy a little boating (a great Glenn family tradition), but our dreams were dashed with every raindrop that hit the car’s windshield.

After reaching “the right place,” our first stop was great uncle Kay’s birthday bash, where we got to meet a few great new people (including the little bros’ fun girlfriends!) Whoda thunk that visiting like this around a plate of grandmas rainbow Jello would be such a blast?

Outside, little cousin “L” and I found poor shaved cat whose owner had one sick sense of humor.

The next morning, we went to church in Bountiful with the grandparents Glenn. In a lone hallway of the church, we found Dad and Uncle Glenn’s names on a plaque celebrating their Eagle Scout Awards.

Later that afternoon at the cousins house, a vicious game of pounce ensued filled with screams, chair tossing and temper tantrums. I don’t think I have had so much fun in a long time!

Although we waited until the 11th hour to decide about getting the boat out, the wind and weather just were not going to cooperate. So the fam took a drive down to Heber to see the beautiful home David’s parents will be moving into. Because our visit was unannounced and the current occupants are still occupying, we only saw the outside. However, we are so happy that after decades abroad mom and dad Glenn will finally get to live near their families.

The evening, we went to a fun aquarium in Salt Lake city with all the cousins and that night, we went to the Rockapella concert with Uncle Mike and Aunt Brooks. Amazing!

The next day was business as usual, meaning school and work for the family and a long trip home for us.

My love for David’s family was just one of the many reasons why I married him. Thanks for making our trip a great one Glenn/Wynn clan! We love you!
